This year roughly 1,000 green business ideas were submitted in 35 countries across the globe. Each country will now send their top-3 to our Global Grand Final to pitch their idea in front of our renowned jury. The Top-10 wins access to the Climate-KIC Accelerator. On top of that there is also prize money. But this event is not just about this tantalizing battle…
The event is held under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Νίκος Αναστασιάδης (Nicos Anastasiades).

Constantinos Petrides was born in Nicosia, studied Economics at the University of Nottingham, and received his MSc in Political Economy of Transition in Europe from the London School of Economics. He has served in the Directorate General for European Programs, Coordination and Development during the negotiations for the accession of Cyprus in the EU. In 2006 he was appointed in the European Commission in Brussels where he worked as an economist in the areas of Agriculture and Competition, until September of 2011. During his tenure he served as a negotiator in the discussions to liberalize trade between EU and 3rd countries and worked on matters concerning public funding in the transportation sector. In September 2011 he took the position of Undersecretary to the President and in May 2017 he was appointed Minister of Interior.

Kirsten radiates creative vitality, an energy drawn from a deep well of diverse experience and a passion for what she loves to do — inspire people to embrace a changing world, learn to learn, understand their past and shape their future. Her career spans academia, consulting, banking, insurance, strategy, design, innovation and leadership, across three continents. Kirsten joined Climate-KIC in February 2017 from an Australian financial services conglomerate, Suncorp, a long-standing partner of Climate-KIC and a member of global climate risk information platform, OASIS.
Eugene Kandel is Professor of Economics and Finance at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and CEO of the Start-Up Nation Central. He is an expert in Financial Markets and Institutions, as well as Corporate Governance and the incentives it provides. His work has been published in the leading Economics, Finance and Accounting journals.
How to generate value from airline points. Hedge fund accountant and start-up business consultant Alejandro Lozano describes himself as an innovative extrovert. He travelled six continents in search of a universal style of communication to break down cultural barriers that restrain individuals from pursuing their boldest dreams. At Indiana University, Alejandro studied civil, criminal and constitutional law.
Cleantech investor Joel Moxley is founder of Pit Rho Corporation, co-founder of Biota Technology, founding investor and board member of Rubicon Global, founding investor in Zero Mass Water, and founder and CEO of Foro Energy. He received his PhD from MIT and his BSE from Princeton, both in chemical Institute for Energy.
Jan van der Tempel graduated in offshore wind from Delft University of Technology in 2000 where he also did his PhD on Offshore Wind Support Structure design. He invented and founded Ampelmann, a full-motion compensation system to access offshore structures, which now is global market leader in offshore access. Currently Jan is back to his old passions: teaching and technology development. His new start-up DOT is a radical new offshore turbine.

Holger Nils Pohl fills you in on everything about Graphic Recording. He’s the Visual Strategy Facilitator at WorkVisual Institute.
Hans Westerhof shares insights from Climate-KIC Accelerator, the 18-month cleantech program with a focus on climate impact. Hans is Climate-KIC Trainer and Program Manager.
Wouldn't it be cool if we have amazing breakthroughs in cleantech? Yes! Like what happened with solar and wind in the past 20 years. In this expert session Bart Markus will talk about his investment in nuclear fusion, and Christina Karapataki will discuss what her fund BEV is looking for when it invests.
