Boot Camp Switzerland: happily working over the weekend

Basel, 9-10 May 2015 – The Swiss Boot Camp took place at a renovated train station and an incubator for creative industries business in Basel. A very inspiring location to work on business ideas. A total of 7 start-ups came together to work on their business ideas, and boy you must really want to become successful if you are willing to work over the weekend.

Teams came from all over Switzerland (Lausanne, Zurich and Basel), with ideas ranging from products to help efficiency in rural farming and eco building materials to services in climate offset, eco tourism, energy efficiency, second hand furniture and sharing transport.

During the Boot Camp participants learned a lot through examples, experiences and advise from the experts from Climate-KIC and Start-up Academy and especially through peer discussions. The start-ups follow the intensive ClimateLaunchpad Boot Camp, where we address the business aspects to convert their climate impact idea into a successful and healthy business. By accelerating healthy cleantech businesses we believe we have a business environment in which climate impact can be reduced in the years to come.

After the intense first day where we discussed the founders dream and how the start-up fits that dream as well as how to find their beachhead market and customers, we all had a little break during a lovely Indian meal.

Even on the second day the energy from the teams was still booming. With discussions and laughter being mixed with working hard on the first version of the pitch deck that they will have to present at the National Final on the 6th of June in Basel.

I hope the enthusiasm and passion remains in each of the start-ups while they prepare for the National Finals! May the force be with you!
