Meet Réka & Mikkel, our National Leads for Denmark!
What is your background?
I first got affiliated with Climate-KIC during my MSc study, Urban Environmental Management at Wageningen University as a Master Label student. After exploring C-KIC’s Education branch I started leaning more and more towards the Entrepreneurship pillar where I was fortunate enough to participate in Climate Launchpad in 2017 . With my team we made it all the way to the Global Final in Cyprus! It’s been nothing short of an amazing experience. I have solid entrepreneurial aspirations and have experienced first hand what programmes like Climate Launchpad can do to give start-ups an extra boost. I couldn’t be more thrilled to organize the Danish edition this year!
I am passionate about the empowerment of people and the creative transformation of knowledge and idea into viable products and services. I have worked to develop entrepreneurial communities and programs at regional and international level including the co-founding of the student incubator at Copenhagen University, a regional innovation and entrepreneurship program, and worked four years for Climate-KIC European program. Currently, I am leading the entrepreneurship program for the Nordic Climate-KIC countries. I have a double master degree in Life Science, facilitation and communication. I have completed a number of executive programs including the Entrepreneurial University Leaders Program at Oxford University and the Babson College executive program on Enhance Growth Entrepreneurship through an Entrepreneurial Eco-system perspective.
Why did you become a country lead?
Climate Launchpad goes to the core of what – I believe- is needed from society as a whole to tackle contemporary environmental challenges: collaboration. The competition empowers change agents to make a real difference and gives them a head start in doing so. I love the idea of elevating entrepreneurs while creating a global network of people that gravitate towards key questions about our future.
As a Country lead, I am very keen about the opportunity working closely with Climate Launchpad, as the program is very well structured and have been developed over the last years. Also, the Climate Launchpad community is really powerful. I look forward both to learn more about the program and to get to know some of those great people taking part of the program.
Why do you think this competition is so important?
Climate Launchpad gives entrepreneurs exposure and a network to continue working for a better tomorrow. The competition helps teams to refine their business model and to think about crucial questions with the professional support of a coach. It is a unique opportunity, both in terms of exposure and network, as well as professional help to get the ball rolling.
The Climate Launchpad program is really concentrated on the essentials – helping early startups finding their best forward without a lot of bullshit. It offers a great program with a fantastic community around it.
How does your organisation support cleantech start-ups?
At Climate-KIC we empower change agents to work for a more sustainable tomorrow. Our Accelerator Programme ultimately supports a selected number of start-ups to scale their business and impact. Participating in Climate Launchpad gives you the opportunity to land yourself in this amazing programme.
Creating global impact. Starting today. Ready?
