Our Team for Sri Lanka

Meet Chaminda & Pratap

Chaminda:

What is your background?
For the last 15 years I worked in nearly 20 countries across the world on water and climate issues with the United Nations and the International Finance Corporation. Now I am back in Colombo trying to move Sri Lanka towards a greener future.

Why does your organisation want to arrange ClimateLaunchpad in your country?
Our mission is to help women and men of Sri Lanka develop sustainable ways to grow our economy. CLP not only provides us the tools and the networks to do so, but also helps us leverage green solutions from across the globe for problems in sectors that are of importance to Sri Lanka.

How does your organisation support cleantech start-ups?
We aim to bring people together – entrepreneurs, corporates, investors, civil society and government – to define priorities, develop networks and build strong businesses that can benefit society and the environment and be profitable for investors and the entrepreneurs.

Pratap:

What is your background?
After a short career in finance, I moved to India in 2000 and have been an entrepreneur for the last 17 years in IT, media, renewable energy, and now climate.

Why does your organisation want to arrange ClimateLaunchpad in your country?
The main goal of the Climate Studio is to build and support the emerging innovation ecosystem around climate and sustainability through a variety of start-up tools and programs. We share ClimateLaunchpad’s vision that real climate change requires real business.

How does your organisation support cleantech start-ups?
We bring angel investors in India and Singapore to early-stage climate start-ups for funding. Next year, we are launching a coworking platform around climate and environment.
