Our National Leads for UK (Birmingham)
Meet Katherine Fuller, our National Lead for England
What is your background?
I have worked on numerous European funded business growth programmes and supported start-ups from across the West Midlands and the UK. This support has covered various sectors such as cleantech, media, built environment, the creative industries, health, engineering and education. I have also supported Social Entrepreneurs looking to set up their own social enterprises in the West Midlands region. Through my work on these various programmes and initiatives, I have helped support over 1000 individuals and supported the creation and growth of 250 businesses.
Why did you become a country lead?
To continue to grow the Climate-KIC offer by participating in Europe’s leading cleantech business ideas competition for the second year running.
Why do you think this competition is so important?
People are in the habit of dismissing their good ideas as too much risk, not enough support and not enough time. We need to take good ideas seriously when it comes to climate change and help turn their ideas into reality.
How does your organisation support cleantech start-ups?
We have e4f which is an ERDF-funded tech incubator scheme onsite, space for start-ups to be based and structured networking and support opportunities for tech, low carbon and cleantech start-ups from the region and beyond.
