Almost all aspects of everyday life involve the use of plastic bags to perform a number of activities such as packaging, storage, carriage etc. However, after use, less than 1% of these plastic bags is recyclable and the rest is disposed in the environment where they causes environment contamination and pollution which have negative externalities on climate when getting eliminated through thermal treatment.
Our Idea focuses on development of biodegradable plastic bags which after use on their disposal degrade hence calling off the thermal treatment method used on the conventional plastic bags which contribute to emissions in the atmosphere causing climate change.
Biodegradable plastic bags are to be developed used agriculture waste products such as wasted cassava, banana pseudo stems to mention but a few.
Our niche market will be in Uganda from where a reputation will be established to penetrate other segments across East Africa then Africa and with time Globally.
