Pitch

Qualification

After an intensive period of boot camps and coaching & mentoring, we’re proud to announce one of the first finalists of the CleanLaunchpad Grand EU Final 2014: the Hungarian start-up BIOMON. During the National Final in Hungary at August 5, the Jury qualified this idea as one of great value and with great potential.

What is BIOMON about?

On average more than 100,000 wildfires occur each year in the world. Illegal logging is a pervasive problem, causing enormous damage to forests, local communities and to the economies of producer countries. Introducing a signaling system BIOMON is changing the paradigm in the environmental monitoring using the technology of the 21th century, which is capable of collecting and submitting local data to a computing center using on-site sensors connected to a network. The real-time information provides data for supervising and controlling illegal logging, detecting the formation of fires in order the forestry staff, the police and the firefighters are informed on ongoing events straightaway as they take place.

BIOMON’s happiness

We worked very hard. And as we went forward step by step, we realized it was possible to reach the final. When we heard we won the ticket to Valencia, we felt excited. We see the Innovation Festival as a wonderful opportunity to explore our idea in Western Europe. And, also we feel it’s a great honor to represent our country at the most important innovation event of the year, organized by Climate-KIC!” – Laszlo Szaday, BIOMON
