Currently water supply systems pose challenges due to climate change, increasing water scarcity, population growth, demographic changes and urbanization. Water is thought to be abundant as it covers about 70% of our planet, but only 3% of this is freshwater and 2/3 of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers. According to the World Health Organisation, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas by 2025.
Cryotap is a floating system that provides low-cost water production for coastal areas, eliminating water transport costs and fossil fuel consumption. It is an autonomous system, using 100% renewable energy and our in-house developed freeze desalination technology, which is HFC/CFC free. It has been designed to be easily transported where and when it is needed, additionally it is scalable which can provide water for a small hotel up to municipal applications.
