Pitch
Technology is great, until it stops working. Which is when climate heroes come in and whisk the product away for recycling. Only that, in most cases, specially in developing countries, the recycling is done by very low-skilled informal entrepreneurs at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid. And in dismal conditions, with immense health and environmental costs and few safeguards – whether legal, social or financial. e-[co]work is about creating co-working spaces for these small and micro eco-entrepreneurs, providing not only affordable and safe spaces with the right tools and technologies to be more efficient and productive, but more importantly enabling them to access products (eg. financial products such as loans, insurance) , services (eg. health checks, banking services), downstream vendors and training. Most importantly, its about creating a space that allows them to operate legally, taking pride in what they do, and rightly stake claim to being climate heroes.
