Pitch
Arsenic is recognized by the World Health Organization as the “most significant chemical contaminant in drinking water globally”. It’s present in many groundwater sources affecting more than 230 million people.
Our solution consists of a new, low-cost, sustainable material based on cork granulates to be used in column filters for the purification of drinking water. The arsenic is retained on the surface of cork granulates by a mechanism of adsorption.
Cork is a carbon-negative material with high chemical and physical resistance. For this reason, FilterCork has numerous environmental advantages.
Our technology has been validated at a lab-scale level and in a relevant environment (TRL 5). We are looking for partners to scale up the technology so it can be demonstrated at a pilot scale, and from there be commercialized to water service companies, water treatment companies, industrial facilities, and household customers.
