IonQube

Upcycling lithium-ion batteries to revolutionise energy storage.

Pitch

ionQube is a solution which allows upcycled batteries to be reused as low carbon energy storage in areas without electricity.

Around 50% of waste Lithium ion batteries are still usable. We can upcycle these batteries and recombine them into a low cost energy storage system to provide lighting, phone charging, and other services for people without access to electricity.

Our deal starts with the battery recyclers: we take their expensive Lithium ion battery waste, isolate the useful cells and recombine them into the ionQube. Then, we sell the ionQube to local distributors and NGOs.

Our primary value proposition is cost. Over a product lifetime of 5 years, we undercut a household’s average spending on kerosene fuels by a factor of 5 and a conventional Li-ion battery unit by a factor of 3.

But it’s not just the cost. By reusing battery cells we save over half a tonne of carbon.
