LAM’ON

LAM'ON is a biodegradable and compostable laminating film for the printing industry

Pitch

Paper and plastic is usually not recycled once mixed together because water is used to break down paper and heat can be used to split down plastic. Furthermore most plastic coated papers are not suited to composting, but do variously end up in compost bins, sometimes even legally so. In this case, the remains of the non-biodegradble plastics components form part of the global microplastics waste problem. It would be so much easier, cheaper and faster if we had a truly biodegradable coating.
LAM’ON set out to develop a biodegradable and compostable laminating film in order to replace the plastic one, used in the printing industry. We want to change the way we think of printed media and upgrade the way we use and reuse it.
