Localcycle is a unique at scale recycling management system for cafes, restaurants and businesses that diverts organic waste away from landfill and recycle and upcycle the waste to create things like mushrooms, compost and even furniture.
The project is as much about education as it is about reducing CO2 emissions. We educate cafes, restaurants and businesses on how to separate their organic waste with modules and training programs.
We then collect organic waste with bikes & trailers at a viable cost and with no carbon emissions. The waste is then deposited and recycled at local facilities.
This waste is recycled and upcycled to create value for locals.
Aside from the educational impact of this project, we can also measure its environmental impact. We’re saving 1 tonne of CO2 emissions per tonne of organic waste. By upcycling this waste we also increase the soil carbon stocks.
