INTRODUCTION
Modcoal is a biofuel start up business located in Tamale, Northern Region. The company was co-founded in July 2020 with the intention to provide briquettes as alternative and sustainable source of cooking fuel for households, Institutions, B2B that use fuel wood and charcoal for cooking and heating. 78% of Ghana’s population depends on charcoal and wood for cooking and heating. The nation has lost about 80% of its vegetative cover (Ghana Maternal Health Survey, 2017, Forestry Commission of Ghana, 2020)
The Deal
We will sell briquettes at GHC 2,000.00/tonne (USD 346.030) to individual households, B2B and institutions, while fighting deforestation and CO2 emissions.
The Dream
The founder and team’s dream is to produce briquettes as alternative and sustainable source of cooking fuel for households, institutions, B2B and organizations that use fuel wood and charcoal for cooking and heating. This we do through zero deforestation, less Co2 emissions, jobs creation
