Pitch
Most of the agricultural waste is burnt by farmers, leading to GHG emission. On an average, 3,000 – 4,000 banana pseudo-stems are planted/acre, every season, which are later burnt. On the other hand, inefficient disposal of single-use plastic also contribute to GHG emission. The “Agricultural By-products” obtained after harvest are considered as “Agricultural Waste”. Our vision is to utilize this Agricultural Waste and renovate it into Biodegradable, Compostable or Edible Products which can serve as an alternative of Plastic. For our initial designs we are working on Biodegradable and Compostable Stand-alone cartons as a replacement of Single-Use plastic. These cartons will be used as food delivery containers, fruits / vegetables stand-alone cartons, etc. in the food industry. The material used for stand-alone cartons is banana pseudo-stems.
