Private hire taxis are one of the main contributors to city centre air pollution. Operating costs for these taxis are also extremely high, especially for the 55% of UK Uber drivers who work less than 30 hours a week.
rentE solves both of these problems, by offering Europe’s first fully inclusive, fully electric rental service for taxi drivers. The cars are charged using 100% renewable electricity from our own rapid chargers. This coupled with car sharing allows rentE to offer rentals under half the price of the competition.
Drivers simply choose their weekly package, book their hours and use our app to unlock the vehicles. With partnerships already established with Uber and BYD, rentE launched in Birmingham in September. We are already at maximum capacity of 30 active subscriptions using our 10 car fleet. In the first month of service, our fleet has travelled more than 15,000 zero-emission miles, saving over 1000kg of CO2 in the process.
