Seed 2 Diesel

An oilseed processing service to get farmers fuel self-sufficient.

Pitch

Diesel for agriculture is too expensive. Farmers can grow all types of oilseeds (sunflower, safflower, canola, flax, mustard, cotton, peanuts, soy, hemp…) , but to expect every farmer to buy the equipment, and have the time and expertise to make consistent quality fuel all on their own is unreasonable. Our solution is to provide a service through a local shared facility, established as a cooperative, that processes the oilseeds for the local (150km) farming community. We’ll extract the oil and convert it into a Diesel fuel that is returned to the grower for their use in agricultural equipment. The left-over oilseed meal is on-sold to livestock producers on the growers’ behalf, giving the grower a cash return for their efforts. Compared to using Petro-Diesel, using our service improves the economics for the grower, securing the fuel for their business, while helping them tackle climate change.
