With the world’s population increasing to nearly 10 billion people by 2050, alternative, sustainable protein sources need to be adopted into our Western diets. Current livestock contribute massively to environmental damage, producing 18% of the worlds GHGs, permanently damaging land, and consuming huge amounts of feed and water. Crickets provide a sustainable source of protein and nutrients, with more protein and less fat than beef while also being high in calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium. They are also far less damaging to produce, consuming less feed and water, taking up less space, and producing fewer GHGs.
