Self-sufficient water recovery system obtaining potable water quality


We provide safe drinking/process water with a self-sufficienable system. SolFOGel treats any water source to produce potable water without connection to an electrical grid. The proposed system is based on forward osmosis membranes, using a hydrogel as draw solution to extract pure water from a waste stream. This draw solution pass along the back side of a solar panel simultaneously increasing electrical productivity of the solar panel and warming up the draw solution. The heated hydrogel changes from hydrophilic to hydrophobic and repels the adsorbed water. The de-watered hydrogel is pumped back to the FO-modules where it cools down again. A new cycle starts.
