Streamlining agricultural value chains in Africa

Pitch

Vegetable oil processors in Africa are losing revenue due to unreliable supply of oil seeds by farmers who provide the seeds intermittently.
We help vegetable oil processors in Africa to access oil seeds easily all year, saving them time and money used to manage their contracted farmers.
We achieve this using a farm information management system called Weaverbird. WeaverBird is customised to work within the African infrastructure that is characterised by poor internet connections, limited power supply and low purchasing power by farmers.
We are able to close the loop between demand of vegetable oil seeds and supply of the seeds by working with the vegetable processors to plan supply and ensure the farmers produce optimally to meet that demand.
We particularly target the farmers living in arid and semi-arid areas who are most affected by poor production, coupled with degrading land resources and scarce water.
