Africa has more than 300 million smallholder farmers, but these farms are producing only at 30% of their potential. For these farmers, life can feel like a constant guessing game, and lack of data leads to uninformed farming decisions on fertilizers, seeds and other inputs. Farmers have lost an average of 40 kilograms of macronutrient per hectare every year — the equivalent of US$5 billion/year worth of fertilizer.
UJUZIKILIMO proprietary low cost Sensor technology measures soil moisture, pH, nutrient levels (N, P, and K), location, and electrical conductivity (EC). The Sensor technology does not require existing soil maps and therefore can be easily used everywhere. UjuziKilimo utilizes a highly personalized, farmer-centered approach. Within minutes of our sensors sending the measured data to our cloud server, an SMS is then sent with tailored recommendations to achieve the optimal conditions for the exact crop the farmer desires to grow.
